Lenka Cutler is an Ottawa-based Artist with a degree in Communication Studies, specializing in Film Production. Her interest in visual storytelling led her to the Ottawa School of Art where she studied Fine Art.
She continues to develop her painting and printmaking skills giving her the tools to essentially freeze time. Her paintings and prints are a reference point, nudging the viewer to create their own narrative.
Lenka is drawn to the study of light, depth and movement, and finds constant inspiration in our environment, often captivated by the layers of colour hidden in our Canadian landscape throughout the changing seasons.
She enjoys an intuitive approach to painting, letting the movement of a drippy wash shape the organic lines of her landscape. More intentional brush strokes and bold colour choices build her composition until the final layer, when she carefully selects elements to tone-down or emphasize with a more natural palette.
Lenka's work explores the human condition and our interaction with animals and our environment, often verging on nostalgic, with dream-like glimpses of movement and light.
